2024/06 – Rotten bulkheads and chainplate knees
WebI just replaced rotted bulkhead at head. Used the main halyard and secured to the forward short shroud and took up the tension. Removed upper shroud at chain plate and taped to forward shroud so didn’t swing free. Removed chain plate bolts in cabin and cut out the rotted piece of bulkhead. So much so that they used to and maybe still do sell a repair kit for it that is basically an aluminum plate that bolts to thepart that doesn't rot and the chainplate.
